For most drivers, every two weeks is a good default. Wash more often when the car is exposed to things that damage paint or metal.
A Simple Schedule
| Task | Typical interval |
|---|---|
| Wash | Every 1–2 weeks; weekly in salt season |
| Interior vacuum and wipe | Every 2–4 weeks |
| Wax or spray sealant | Every 2–3 months (sealants last longer) |
| Full detail | 1–3 times a year |
| Ceramic coating maintenance wash | Every 1–2 weeks with pH-neutral soap |

Wash Right Away When You See
- Road salt: it speeds up rust underneath; choose a wash with an underbody rinse.
- Bird droppings and bug splatter: both can etch clear coat in hot sun within days.
- Tree sap and pollen: sticky residue bakes on; soften and remove it early.
- After the beach or a dirt road: sand and dust scratch when you touch them.
Is Washing Too Often Bad?
Not if the wash is gentle. Damage comes from dirty brushes, gritty towels and harsh chemicals, not from frequency. If you wash weekly, an unlimited membership may cost less than paying per wash.
